Overview

Trevathan Farm provides a range of charming and traditional holiday cottages nestled in the Cornish countryside. On-site, discover a handy restaurant that is suitable for families, and a farm shop where visitors can purchase the farm’s own produce and other delicious local treats. Guests can enjoy various activities such as tractor rides, animal visits, fruit picking, and playing in the children’s play area. Additionally, the location of the farm is ideal as it is in close proximity to Port Isaac and Padstow.

Activities

Many guests staying on the farm look forward to the daily tractor and trailer ride with Farmer Mark, which is one of the highlights of their day. Farmer Mark takes them on a tour around the farm, stopping on the way to feed the animals. The tour usually ends at the farm shop, where guests can feed the animals there and enjoy a complimentary cup of tea along with a friendly chat.

Visitors can help feed a variety of farm animals, such as calves, lambs, pigs, goats, chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs, wallabies, and Shetland ponies. During lambing season, children are welcome to help bottle-feed the lambs. Guests are always welcome to lend a helping hand, and it’s best to wear wellies if you plan on doing so! Visitors can also collect eggs from the free-range hens and make friends with the friendly dogs, who love playing with guests.

For children and younger guests, there’s an adventure playground with swings, a climbing wall, and a slide situated in an open space central to the cottages. An old stone barn houses the games room with a pool table, table tennis, and table football, which guests can enjoy free of charge.

The farm has a one-acre fishing lake stocked with rainbow trout, set within 40 acres of land devoted to the encouragement of natural fauna and flora, creating a haven for a number of uncommon species of birds, dragonflies, butterflies, and wildflowers. Rods and lines are available for visitors to use, and the trout tastes delicious when cooked on the barbecue.

The farm also has an outside all-weather court where visitors can play tennis all year round. You can enjoy the amazing countryside views by walking around the farm and are free to roam wherever you like.

Food

The restaurant offers a range of tempting homemade cakes, cream teas, and lunches to satisfy any craving. Guests can also enjoy a cup of coffee while admiring the scenic view. Families with children can use the play area and pet corner to keep their little ones entertained.

The farm shop is brimming with locally sourced produce, including the restaurant’s own beef and lamb. Visitors can also browse through an impressive selection of homemade jams, pickles, cheeses, and other goodies. Plus, there’s a great variety of beverages to choose from, including country wines, Cornish beer, and hand-made Cornish ice cream.

In addition to the farm-fresh produce, the shop also stocks homemade jams and preserves made using the restaurant’s own fruit whenever possible. Ready-made meals and cakes are also available for takeaway. On Sundays, the restaurant serves a traditional roast dinner featuring a choice of meats, including their home-produced beef. Reservations are required for the Sunday roast, and guests can call the restaurant directly to book.

Accommodation

There are 11 cottages available for rent on the farm estate, each with its own unique features and character. Among them are Damson, Pear Tree, Ivy, and Cherry cottages.

Damson was originally a stable and the first building to be converted into a cottage. It boasts a large, spacious living area with French doors that open up to the slate patio and a large private garden, perfect for barbecues. The cottage has two bedrooms, one double and one twin, with a vanity unit, along with a bathroom that has a shower.

Pear Tree features slate floors and open beams, making it cool during summer and cosy during winter. It has a large open fireplace and a step up from the living room into the kitchen/dining area. Upstairs, there is a double bedroom with a fantastic view across the countryside, a twin room, and a bathroom.

Ivy Cottage was part of the old farmhouse known as Inner Trevathan and adjoined Pear Tree Cottage. The living area of Ivy has been designed upstairs to make the most of the views. The cottage has a double bedroom, twin bedroom, and bathroom downstairs.

Cherry cottage was converted from the old grain store and has a double room, twin room with a vanity unit, and bathroom downstairs. Like Ivy, Cherry’s living area has been designed upstairs to make the most of the views.
