Overview

Penhale Caravan & Camping Park offers guests the opportunity to enjoy breathtaking sea views in a stunning natural location. This family-run campsite is on a working organic farm just outside Fowey, boasting scenic views of St Austell Bay and the surrounding countryside. The very same views inspired many of Daphne Du Maurier’s famous novels. Guests can choose from self-catering accommodation in 12 static holiday homes or spacious camping and caravan pitches.

Activities

Penhale is perfect for exploring Cornwall, with sandy beaches, scenic walks, and the Eden Project nearby in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Food

The little on-site shop stocks locally produced eggs, sausages, and bacon from the nearby award-winning butchers, as well as bread, milk, and disposable BBQs. If you need more supplies, there are convenience stores in Fowey and Par, 1.5 miles away. For larger supermarkets like Tesco and Aldi, you’ll need to drive to St Austell, which is only 5 miles away.

If you’re looking for a fun activity, you can go on a mackerel fishing trip and cook your catch on the BBQ at Penhale. But if you’re not up for catching your dinner, there are plenty of options for dining out in Fowey. You can try the best fish and chips in the area, enjoy some fresh Fowey River mussels, or indulge in a fancy meal at one of the many elegant hotel restaurants.

The Rashleigh Inn is a popular spot for walkers, sailing enthusiasts and beach-goers. It’s a friendly and traditional Cornish pub with a restaurant area and a large, comfortable terrace on the beach. The view of the sun setting over the bay is a beautiful sight to enjoy over dinner or a glass of wine.

Sam’s restaurant in the old lifeboat building at Polkerris is definitely worth a visit. Enjoy pizzas made in a traditional wood-fired oven, fresh seafood, and steaks. There is also a takeaway service available. However, the restaurant is so prevalent in the summer that booking ahead of time is best. Additionally, there are extra tables available outside on the beachfront.
