Lyon Court is a beautiful country house in a lovely countryside, tastefully converted into individual apartments. It overlooks Shanklin Down, is close to bus and train routes, is 10 minutes from The Old Village, and is 15 minutes from the beach. Relax in our heated outdoor pool, watch the kids have fun in our super outdoor playground, or play in our mini arcade area. Lyon Court has facilities to rival much bigger concerns, yet they are shared by a maximum of just four families!
At Lyon Court, there is an abundance of activities suitable for children of all ages. Notably, the amenities are exclusively shared with just four other families staying on the premises, ensuring a more private and enjoyable experience. The property boasts over half an acre of gardens, offering ample space for children to either find their own quiet spot or mingle and make new friends.
The secure outdoor pool, maintained at a warm 28°C, is a highlight where children, under supervision, can swim and have fun in the open air. To enhance convenience, a new pool house has been introduced, equipped with toilets and baby changing facilities, eliminating the need to return to the apartments. Additionally, this pool house serves as a games room, stocked with a variety of entertainment options including retro arcade machines, classic fruit machines, a coin pusher, an air hockey table, and a crane grabber machine that guarantees a prize with every attempt.
For the younger guests, Lyon Court offers an impressive playground that features a vast Jungle Gym complete with a climbing wall, slides, and swings. A playhouse, filled with a plethora of toys, is also available in the playground area. Furthermore, children can enjoy ride-ons and a play kitchen, activities that can keep them engaged until dusk or until their parents decide it’s time to wind down with a glass of wine.

Each apartment kitchen is fully equipped with all the necessary tools for cooking. It boasts a range cooker with two ovens, a grill, and an induction hob with five burners. Additionally, there’s a full-sized dishwasher and a family-sized fridge/freezer, complemented by a dedicated wine cooler to simplify entertaining up to eight people. For making tea or coffee for everyone, a Grohe instant boiling water system is at hand.
With lots of tearooms, cafes, and traditional pubs located in Shanklin Town and Old Village, the choice for dining out is abundant. For those seeking to enjoy the sea air alongside good food, a variety of food and drink options are available along Shanklin seafront, including numerous spots to grab an ice cream and enjoy it in the sunshine.
The Garden Apartment is the flagship offering, meticulously refurbished to a high standard. This apartment spans the entire garden level, boasting ceilings over eight feet high in most rooms, creating a spacious atmosphere. It is illuminated with stylish dimmable LED downlights and complemented by large windows and doors, ensuring a bright and airy environment. The apartment features underfloor heating throughout, with porcelain tiles that mimic vintage wood, adding a Mediterranean touch. This design not only keeps the space warm during winter but also provides a cooling effect in summer, maintaining a comfortable temperature year-round. The dining area seats eight comfortably, and there’s a 32” smart TV for entertainment. The lounge boasts a 75” smart TV, ready for streaming, and plush sofas for relaxation.
The Garret, located on the first floor but set apart from the main building, offers unique views to the south, west, and east. It includes a family room with a fully-equipped kitchen, a dining area that seats six, and a cozy area with a 49” smart TV. This apartment enjoys a bright and airy double aspect room with views of the gardens and pool, and access to a large 42sqm terrace adorned with tropical plants and fairy lights, providing an ideal setting for al fresco dining.
Finally, The Old Stable, converted from its original purpose, is a charming studio apartment nestled in the secluded gardens. It features a south-facing patio, a fully-equipped kitchen, and a living area designed to accommodate a couple or a small family of three, where at least one guest is a child. The space includes a daybed, a double bed, and a dining table, alongside a 28″ Smart TV, making it a cozy retreat.

The beach is renowned for its small, shallow pool that naturally forms during low tide, providing a safe and enjoyable spot for children. Beyond the beach, the area offers a plethora of other beaches and a variety of family-friendly outings suitable for all ages. From cycling along the picturesque Red Squirrel Trail to visiting a theme park designed with younger children in mind, there’s no shortage of exciting activities.
The Isle of Wight, known affectionately as the Holiday Island, boasts an abundance of activities for both kids and adults.
