Activities

Linskeldfield Farm is the perfect holiday destination for families with young kids. They offer an impressive range of baby and toddler equipment, which is readily available upon request. The play area is fully enclosed, and there are age-appropriate toys that will keep your little ones entertained for hours. The farm also has miniature Shetland Ponies and Pigmy Goats, which are sure to delight the children. The farm offers plenty of open space for children to explore and have fun. The patio area is equipped with ride-on toys and a playhouse, and there’s a football pitch, swings, and a slide beyond that. For older children, there’s a games room with a pool table, table football, air hockey, and an Xbox. Guests at Linskeldfield Farm are also entitled to complimentary passes to Armathwaite Hall’s luxury spa, which includes a gym, pool, heat rooms, and outdoor hot tubs. There’s even a children’s pool that is open twice a day. And for those who want some extra pampering, spa treatments are available for an additional fee. All in all, Linskeldfield Farm is a fantastic holiday destination that the whole family will enjoy!

Food

Each of the cottages features a fully-fitted kitchen, complete with an oven, hob, microwave, refrigerator, and dishwasher. The cupboards are well-stocked with all the necessary cooking essentials, and a BBQ is available for use, weather permitting. If you’re in the mood for dining out, Cockermouth is just a 10-minute drive away and offers a wide selection of cafes, bars, restaurants, pubs, and takeaways. In addition to these amenities, you’ll also find supermarkets and excellent independent food shops in the town.

Accommodation

The comfortable farm cottages are set in 200 acres of land with panoramic views over the surrounding fells. Each cottage is furnished to a high standard with a fitted kitchen (with electric oven and hob, microwave, refrigerator and dishwasher) and comes fully equipped with everything one could possibly need whilst on holiday. The cottages offer full central heating supplied by biomass boiler (included in price), TV with built-in DVD player (and a selection of DVDs), dining table and chairs, ironing facilities, set of bed linen and towels, and free WiFi. Outside, there is a barbeque, patio furniture, and plenty of parking space. Communally, the cottages share laundry facilities, a payphone, children’s play area, and a games room. Guests are also welcome to walk around the tarn and spot wildlife from the cosy birdwatching hide. Holidays are a time to relax and unwind, especially after a long day on the hills. All guests can have a complimentary trip to Armathwaite Hall’s luxury spa, with access to the gym, pool, award-winning heat rooms, and outdoor hot tub. Treatments can be booked as extras. For younger guests, there is a children’s pool which is open twice a day for a few hours. Further information is available on the holiday extras pages. Arrival into the cottages is from 4 pm and departure by 10 am to allow time to prepare for the next guests. The cottages are named Osprey’s Nest (sleeps 6), Otter’s Pocket (sleeps 4), Squirrel’s Drey (sleeps 4), and Badger’s Den (sleeps 2).

The site is a certified Camping & Caravanning Club hideaway, which can accommodate up to 5 caravans, motorhomes, and 10 tents. For caravans and motorhomes, there is a hard level standing available, with electric hook-up points and new purpose-built shower and toilet facilities. On-site, guests can use the washing machine and tumble dryer, chemical disposal point, and waste recycling point. The site also offers a range of glamping options, including camping pods that are available all year round. These pods combine the simplicity of camping with comfortable self-catering facilities. They can comfortably sleep two adults and two small children, or three adults. Each pod has an oil-fired radiator, electric lighting and sockets, futon-style foam chair beds, blackout curtains, and is fully carpeted throughout. There is also an outside decking area, picnic bench, fire pit, and adjacent parking. During the warmer months, guests can book a stunning safari-style tent that provides the luxury of a comfortable double bed with bedding to relax in after a day exploring the Western Lakes. Guests can step outside onto their own private decking for panoramic views of the local fells and Skiddaw. Inside the tent, there is a very comfortable double bed with bedding, bedside cabinet, rattan rug on the floor, lighting from fairy lights on the ceiling and a bedside lamp. There is a toaster, crockery, cutlery, and an electric point. The tent is set up for up to 2 people sharing a double bed, with room for a put-up bed or travel cot to accommodate children.

They can also provide a range of additional equipment to make your stay even more comfortable. Choose from travel cots and bedding, baby monitors, bed guards, and more, as well as a selection of children’s books, toys, and DVDs to keep the little ones entertained.
