Salhouse Broad is the place for a perfect blend of peace, tranquillity, and outstanding natural beauty. You can explore wood, fen, and water while spotting a variety of wildlife. For the mini adventurers, there are water activities to keep them engaged. Hire a canoe or put on your walking boots and set off for an adventure.

Activities

If you are looking for an adventure, you can rent a canoe or kayak and explore Salhouse Broad. The Wherry Cut is a peaceful place where you can observe wildlife and enjoy nature. You can also paddle to the Hoveton Great Broad Nature Trail and take a break to stretch your legs and discover this real Broadland wilderness. Alternatively, you can stick to the river and go towards Horning or Wroxham and even make it as far as Ranworth. Canoe hire and kayak hire are available from April to October, and campers can get a 10% discount if they book at the same time.

For families with kids, there is an on-site play area that is perfect for early morning climbing, making friends with fellow campers, or burning off the last of that energy before bed.

Food

The Hungry Otter onsite offers a variety of delicious treats including barista coffee, specialty teas, cakes, pastries, and locally sourced ice cream and sorbets, such as pupsicles! During the summer season, Salhouse Broad welcomes various food vendors who offer homemade goods, Norfolk ice cream, and hot beverages. Campers are welcome to bring their own barbecues and fire pits to cook up tasty meals or enjoy a simple breakfast by the water. Firewood is available on-site and should be enough for at least one night.

If you’re looking for more dining options, you can rent a canoe and paddle for a few hours to find great family pubs and cafes along the way. Norfolk is also famous for its seafood, especially Cromer crab. The coast is only a half-hour drive away, and there are plenty of charming seaside towns on the Norfolk coast, each with lots of lovely eateries. You can’t beat fish and chips on the beach!

Accommodation

The back-to-basics camping experience provides a unique opportunity to sleep under the stars, cook hearty meals over a campfire, and explore the waterways by boat. The campsite offers two pitch sizes, standard and large, to accommodate any tent size. Prices cover accommodation for up to four guests, and larger families or groups can pay for additional guests per pitch per night. Additionally, two well-behaved dogs per pitch are welcome without any additional charges.

Salhouse Broad Camping Corner is open from April until the end of September, and there is a minimum two-night stay requirement during the August bank holiday. The campsite has a block of chemical and public toilets in the car park. A standing pipe in the camping field provides drinking water, but unfortunately, hot water and showers are not available. It is an ideal place for a thrilling adventure, resembling wild camping but with a few necessary extras, all within the serene and stunning environment of Salhouse Broad Camping Corner.
