Activities

Callow Top is a family-oriented location offering various activities to entertain adults and children. The park has a playground for kids, a swimming pool, and fishing spots for all to enjoy. There is also a games field for those who love friendly competition and an amusement arcade for those who want to embrace their inner child. During peak season, the park provides entertainment, such as family discos, bingo, and live bands. If you prefer to slow things down, rent bikes on-site or stroll around the fishing lake, surrounded by stunning walking trails. The swimming and paddling pools are heated to a cosy 27°C, and there is plenty of seating for parents to relax while their kids play safely in the fully enclosed pool area. The shop also sells pool toys, swimwear, and goggles. However, adults must supervise children under 15, and pets are prohibited in the pool area.

For families interested in fishing, Callow Top is the perfect destination. The mature lake has an ecologically balanced mixed coarse fishery, where anglers can catch Rudd, Roach, Tench, Perch, Crucian, and Mirror Carp.

Food

Arnold’s Cafe Bar is a fun place to eat and drink, whether you want to dine in or take out. The hours may vary depending on the season. On the other hand, The Callow Inn is a great place to spend time with your kids on Fridays, Saturday nights, or Sundays during lunchtime. They are open in the evenings during school holidays. The holiday accommodations are fully equipped with all the amenities to make guests’ stay stress-free. Each unit has a fully fitted kitchen, a dining area, a lounge, and a bathroom. If guests require cots or highchairs, they can be provided upon request.

The semi-detached cottages are centrally located and offer a charming view overlooking the green. Each house has an enclosed yard with a picnic table and a sun umbrella. Ashbourne Cottage comfortably sleeps up to 7 guests in 2 bedrooms and a sofa bed, while Dovedale Cottage sleeps up to 5 guests in 2 bedrooms and a sofa bed. The Hartington Apartment is located on the first floor above the pub, but it is soundproofed to ensure a peaceful night’s rest. It can accommodate up to 4 guests in 1 double and one twin room.

The Okeover Apartment is perfect for couples or families, with a maximum occupancy of four guests. It boasts a contemporary kitchen with a breakfast bar overlooking the village green, a spacious living room with comfortable leather sofas, and a log-effect fire. The apartment also has a double bedroom, a twin bedroom, and a family bathroom. Guests can enjoy al fresco dining in the enclosed outdoor space with a table, chairs, and a sun umbrella.

Dovedale Cottage was converted from the original barn belonging to the farmhouse, offering a cosy country escape. Its oak-beamed living room features a log-effect fireplace, perfect for relaxing after exploring the Peak District. Upstairs is a double bedroom with views overlooking the village green, a single bedroom, and a family bathroom. An additional two guests can be accommodated on the double sofa bed in the living room. Guests can enjoy the enclosed outdoor space with a table, chairs, and a sun umbrella.

Ashbourne Cottage is ideal for families or couples and comfortably sleeps up to 5 guests. Converted from the original barn belonging to the farmhouse, this cottage is full of character and offers a delightful country experience. The Hartington Apartment is a bright and cosy base for exploring the Peak District and can accommodate up to four guests in two bedrooms. It is perfect for families seeking a peaceful retreat.

For an incredible cable car ride, head to the Heights of Abraham, where visitors can explore caverns, play areas, and a visitor centre.

Make a stop at Carsington Water Reservoir, which features a visitor centre, play area, numerous cycling and walking routes, and watersports like sailing, kayaking, and windsurfing.
