Overview

Marwell Zoo is a gorgeous 140-acre outdoor animal wonderland tucked into Winchester’s countryside. With 100’s of animals, including giraffes, tigers, penguins and meerkats and a whopping five adventure outdoor playgrounds, a day out here will keep the family busy all day.

Things to do

Let’s talk wild adventures at Marwell Zoo – it’s not your average stroll in the park! Look for exotic animals like Rothchild’s giraffes, Amur tigers, and Linne’s two-toed sloth. Watch the Humboldt penguins dive down deep. Spot a snow Leopard taking an afternoon snooze—Marvel at the white rhinoceroses grazing in their field.

Visit the tropical house, explore two levels of tropical climate, and come face-to-face with the many creatures who call this climate their home. With free-flying birds soaring above your head and a lesson in sustainability, with the use of animal dung to fuel the zoo, the tropical house is a great place to explore.

But that’s not all – get cosy with Wallabies in the Wallaby walkthrough, take a trip on the road train or look at the many animal experiences Marwell Zoo offers. And here’s a tip: download Marwell Zoo’s free app for animal feed times, a striking park map, and loads of fun animal facts!

Now, for the little adventurers – five epic playgrounds await! Swing by the Okapi playground or go wild in the Life Among The Trees playground. The Fur, Feathers, and Scales playground will have them excited to explore – and they’re inclusive so that all kids can join in on the fun.

Need a break from the animal antics? Head to Marwell Hall’s backyard for a blast from the past with 16th and 17th-century gardens. Lavender, roses, colourful flowers – like stepping into a floral wonderland—a great place to sit and enjoy a picnic on those sunny days.

Food & Drink

Time to refuel those little explorers! Guess what? Marwell Zoo’s got you covered with food kiosks sprinkled all around. Head to Cafe Graze for a feast while watching the zebras – it’s like a dinner date in the wild! With a menu full of hot food options like hunter’s chicken, vegan pies, soup, jacket potatoes and chips. They also have a great kids’ menu with cheesy pasta bake or chicken goujons.

Are you feeling the need for a caffeine kick? Swing by Coffee Corner – they’ve got your back. It’s a great place to stop for a treat with hot and cold drinks, swe, et treats, and pastry. And don’t forget to visit Safari Scoops, Marwell Zoo’s very own ice cream parlour with 12 flavours of ice cream and sorbets.

Plus, there are plenty of great picnic spots to enjoy if you bring your food in.
