Activities

Reducing stress involves quieting your mind and allowing relaxation to take over. One effective way to achieve this is by trying the private woodland Jacuzzi. Hydromassage jets can help alleviate physical tension, and hydrotherapy can be your stress-free haven when combined with deep breathing and a calm setting.

Visitors are welcome to enjoy some time in the private and relaxing woodland sauna, which features a bastu – a traditional Swedish sauna room filled with dry heat and a stunning view of the beautiful Narnia woodland landscape. The sauna room boasts an entirely wooden interior with a glass side, providing a great way to unwind and various health benefits. These benefits include improved circulation, weight loss, detoxification, pain relief, and skin purification.

Guests can enjoy a dip in the private swimming pool, maintained at a comfortable temperature of 28/29 degrees. The pool is perfect for relaxation with family or for a workout with laps. It’s important to note that the swimming pool is shared with the owners. Guests must book the pool through the provided app to guarantee exclusive use.

Transform your treehouse or cave into a romantic spa with a massage table, oils, lighting, and music. The owners recommend the Belvedere Pamper Company, a mobile masseuse based in Oxford.

The property also offers a tennis court, a heated Tiki Bar, a fire pit, swings, a zipline, a trampoline, and a Faun’s Garden and Narnia Sculptures to explore.

Hidden deep within Cedar Hollow lies the Faun’s Hideaway Escape Room. Do you have what it takes to solve the clues and save the innocent Faun from the clutches of the evil White Queen? This unique escape room features one-of-a-kind artwork by @amandacarolinecouture and imagineering props crafted by @thearithmancer.

Food

The treehouse has a balcony with a Weber gas BBQ, an electric hob, and a microwave. There is also a second Weber BBQ beside the bar. Furthermore, the treehouse has a dishwasher, fridge, and freezer.

The Professor’s Cottage boasts a full kitchen with all the abovementioned amenities. Additionally, it has an oven and four gas hobs.

For special occasions, you can hire a private chef, as recommended by the owners. They offer bespoke menus with dishes ranging from budget-friendly to luxurious creations by Michelin-starred and MasterChef-winning chefs.

The Oaks’ location near Oxford provides easy access to food delivery services like Deliveroo and JustEat. You can order from a wide range of restaurants in the area and have your food delivered to your door.

If you prefer to dine out, there are several excellent gastro-pubs in Oxford and its surrounding areas. Highly recommended options include Le Manoir Aux Quat’ Saisons (which boasts 2 Michelin stars), the Nut Tree Inn (1 Michelin star), and Sir Charlies Napier (1 Michelin star). These restaurants are perfect for a romantic night out.

Accommodation

The Cave can accommodate up to four guests with a double bed and a double sofa bed. It offers a unique and magical experience with various optical illusions and enchanting features. The accommodation includes a kitchenette, an ensuite bathroom, underfloor heating, and a real fireplace. The Cave will be available for booking starting in June 2024!

The town of Oxford, known for its ancient university, is just a 20-minute bike ride from The Oaks. It’s a great place to stay if you want to mix your country break with some culture, history, and stunning architecture. Take a walk down the old cobbled streets, visit one of the museums, or drink at The Eagle and Child, the old haunt of CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien.

No trip to Oxford is complete without a punting trip on the Cherwell River. This timeless and idyllic pleasure lets you drift leisurely along the silky water while picnicking on the river and passing by history. A sumptuous afternoon tea is the perfect accompaniment to a relaxed outing exploring the beauty of Oxford as seen from the river. The cruise lasts 1.5 hours, passing by Christ Church meadows, the university college boathouses, and even Rose Island, Lewis Carroll’s favourite spot.

Shotover Park, a magnificent 117-hectare woodland, is right at your doorstep. Its hidden valleys, varied landscapes, and diverse habitats are perfect for cycling, walking, or running. You can also visit CS Lewis’ nine-acre garden, now a public park next door. By prior arrangement, you can even visit CS Lewis’s house, The Kilns.

You can book a tour of CS Lewis’s Oxford and the rest of the Inkling’s working spots, from the Eagle and Child pub to their Oxford colleges. A visit to his favoured place of worship, the Holy Trinity Church in Headington Quarry, is just a 5-minute walk away.

The City of Oxford, Society of Model Engineers, manages its own miniature railway tracks with miniature steam trains that the public can ride. It’s a super fun day out with the kids! There are two tracks on their railway: the elevated track is built to cater for 3½” and 5″ gauges, and the ground-level track is for 7¼” gauge.

Nearby, Pony Pursuits offers enchanting horseback rides at their Huckleberry Farm. On the 2nd and 4th Saturday of every summer month, they can even bring their horses to the treehouse.
