Overview

Embark on an exciting adventure through the world of birds and their Jurassic ancestors with this fun-filled day trip in the Cotswolds.

Things to do

Birdland is a picturesque park that spans nine acres of beautiful gardens and woodland. The winding River Windrush flows through the park, creating a stunning natural canopy. Visitors can enjoy the company of over 500 birds, including rare species such as the Waldrapp Ibis, magical owls, and large cassowaries. Additionally, the park is home to flamingos, pelicans, cranes, and waterfowl that live in the riverside habitats. Over 50 aviaries provide shelter for many other bird species.

One of the main attractions of Birdland is England’s only breeding group of King Penguins, along with African Penguins. The Out of Africa area showcases birds from across the continent, including hornbills and village weavers. While the Jurassic Journey area is a must-visit for dinosaur enthusiasts, with life-sized dinosaurs lurking between the trees in the woodland. In the Pandemonium of Parrots area, visitors can marvel at the vibrant and colourful parrots, from macaws to lorikeets, in their new enclosures. Finally, the park’s newest addition is the Parliament of Owls aviaries, which house snowy owls, burrowing owls, great grey owls, spectacled owls, and Indian scops owls.

Food & Drink

Nestled in Birdland Park, The Nest offers a diverse menu ranging from delicious hot dishes to quick bites. If you’d prefer to bring your own picnic, choose from three picnic areas located around the park, which offer stunning views of the Cassowary and Emu Meadow, Encounters Zone, or Children’s Play Area. Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, you can even pitch up in the Jurassic Journey for a prehistoric picnic! And for those days when the English summer isn’t quite up to scratch, there are sheltered picnic spots throughout the park too.
