The team can also arrange bespoke sessions with an on-site astronomer, who can take visitors on a journey to distant planets and galaxies. Depending on the group size, this experience costs £125-150 per night.

For those interested in capturing the beauty of nature through photography, visitors can join wildlife photographer and filmmaker Cain Scrimgeour at Wild Northumbrian. He teaches the art of fieldcraft and immerses visitors in the wild landscape, searching for those magical and inspiring moments destined to be observed and photographed.

Food

The Wild Northumbrian site has a communal kitchen, which you can use to wash your dishes and prepare meals. Each yurt or hut comes with its own fridge shelf, which is convenient for keeping food fresh, especially during warmer weather.

The Hollybush Inn now offers bespoke packed lunches for all Wild Northumbrian guests who plan to go on expeditions. This option is an excellent way to take food with you on your adventures.

Linus and Louise provide a unique culinary experience with food sourced from Northumberland’s woods, meadows, and hedgerows. Guests can also visit the Northern Wilds Wild Food Wagon for some off-road foraging.

Accommodation

The Houlet Treehouse Yurt is a stunning and unique accommodation option. It is nestled among the trees and offers a one-of-a-kind experience. With elevated views from the canopy, it provides a luxurious stay for couples and families alike. The yurt has all the necessary amenities, including a kitchen area with a running cold water sink, a gas camping stove, and an outdoor bush shower. Guests can enjoy a comfortable stay amidst nature’s tranquillity. The yurt also features a ground-level fire pit and seating area, a hammock that hangs in the shade of the yurt, and a private stargazing platform for a perfect evening under the stars.

Swallow Hut is an enchanting, rustic barn accommodating up to four people. It is an ideal option for families. The hut features a double and two single beds, all on stilts with ladders to climb up, providing everyone with “the top bunk” experience. It also has a comfortable sofa and floor seating space, complete with a cushioned base for children to play and relax. The hut has an outside fire pit and seating area, a covered verandah for guests to relax, and is located near the central kitchen and washing facilities.

Tod is the most secluded of all the yurts. It offers breathtaking views of the valley and is situated above the river Tarset. Tod has a private compost loo, an outdoor hot shower, and a hikki wood-fired outdoor bath, which are ideal for couples or families seeking a remote getaway. Guests can also enjoy a covered sink area with running cold water for washing and washing up. The yurt is self-contained, and everything guests need is available in their private area, except for the refrigeration of food, which is available in the shared kitchen hut.
