Overview

The World of Beatrix Potter™ Attraction in Bowness-on-Windermere is a vibrant visitor centre offering a unique experience for all the family. Explore a magical world where all 23 enchanting tales are brought to life, recreating the beautiful Lake District countryside complete with sights, sounds and smells. There’s a chance to meet your favourite characters, including Peter Rabbit, Mrs Tiggy-winkle and Jemima Puddle-Duck.

Things to do

Visitors can enjoy visiting Peter Rabbit’s Garden, where they can see the Cos lettuces that Benjamin Bunny nibbled on and the gooseberry bush where Peter got caught in a net while trying to escape Mr McGregor. There are activities for all ages, including free activity booklets and games for kids and an interactive area for adults to learn about Miss Potter’s history.

A free guided tour is available for those interested in a more detailed tour of the Peter Rabbit Garden. It is led by a gardening team member, who will introduce visitors to the plants and vegetables in the garden and explain the organic techniques used to maintain its beauty throughout the year.

Food & Drink

There is a superb themed café that is family-friendly and perfect for treating oneself and loved ones to a scrumptious High Tea or a Peter Rabbit Picnic Basket for the kids. The café also offers delicious fresh soups and salads made with ingredients from their kitchen garden.

The menu includes popular classics such as the Cumbrian Platter and local roast beef, new dishes featuring completely fresh fruit and vegetables grown in the garden, and their new organic kitchen garden. This means that guests can enjoy rare heritage varieties of organic fruit and vegetables directly sourced from their own gardens and offered when they are in season. Food doesn’t come any fresher than this.
