Overview

Smithill Open Farm is a family-run establishment on 70 acres of rolling countryside. You can meet various animals, from traditional farm animals like goats, cows, pigs, and sheep to more unusual species like meerkats and snakes—still a working farm, too, so you get to experience farming first-hand.

Things to do

Smithills Farm is an exciting destination that promises a fun-filled day for the whole family. The farm boasts a range of attractions that will delight visitors of all ages, from furry friends to ice cream.

Pets Corner is undoubtedly one of the most popular activities at the farm, where visitors can get up close and personal with the animals. Here, they can meet the latest animal babies and hold small creatures like chicks, rabbits and guinea pigs. It’s the ideal opportunity for visitors to learn about the animals and their quirky behaviours.

Throughout the day, various interactive talks and sessions are available for visitors to meet some animals. These meet, and greets are a great way to learn more about the animals and their habitats. Visitors can ask questions and interact with the animals in a safe and controlled environment.

But that’s not all! Smithills Farm is also home to a large dairy farm where visitors can learn about milk production and where their food comes from. This is a hands-on experience that’s both fun and educational.

Make sure to explore the farm’s grounds; plenty of activities keep the family entertained. You can take a tractor and trailer ride, a donkey ride, or feed the many different animals. The farm also offers a bouncy castle, assault course, adventure playground, and sandpit for children. So you can relax with a hot cup of tea while the kids have a blast.

Check out the ice creamery on the way in/out, too; all ice cream is made fresh on the premises and is yummy!

Food & Drink

There is a cafe onsite serving a selection of hot and cold dishes and hot and cold refreshments. They also have ice cream serving their homemade ice cream (delicious!!) and snack kiosks for food on the go. You are welcome to take a picnic, and plenty of seating is around the farm.
