Overview

Located at the heart of Cardiff Bay, this attraction features two floors filled with mesmerizing models, marvellous machines, and mind-boggling interactive displays. Visitors can launch a rocket, try their hand at virtual surgery, experience a simulated earthquake, and even feel the force of a hurricane.

Things to do

As you walk in, you will come across the Science Capital, which consists of five zones focusing on space, the environment, chemistry, world issues and biomedical science. Additionally, you will find a collection of original and classic Techniquest exhibits on the Retro side of the building. This area is perfect for younger children, who will love the water area, giant piano, and ant-watching exhibits.

If you have children between three and six, they will have a great time unleashing their imaginations in the new Role Play Area on the first floor. You can reach it by going up the stairs behind the robot arm near the picnic area.

Over 100 interactive exhibits cater to all ages, from a vast pneumatic dragon to fun puzzles, so there is something for everyone to enjoy.

You can also explore the universe’s wonders in the incredible digital planetarium. Whether day or night, rain or shine, you can observe the stars and learn about constellations and the fascinating myths behind them.

Food & Drink

Coffee Mania is situated adjacent to the main entrance of Techniquest and offers a delectable assortment of snacks, hot and cold food items, soft drinks, teas, and coffees, as well as wines and cold beers. At the west end of the building, there is a designated picnic area near the show portal where you are welcome to enjoy your own food and drinks whenever you wish.
