This enchanting destination has been awarded the title of the best European folly of the 20th century, along with the recognition of being the best children’s attraction in Yorkshire! Furthermore, it is one of the most famous and well-loved tourist spots in Britain, catering to both adults and children alike. You’re guaranteed to have a wonderful time here!
The Forbidden Corner is a tourist attraction with a 4-acre garden that offers unexpected surprises at every turn. The garden is lush and green with a beautiful lake and traditional stone sculptures. However, there are also mysterious figures throughout the garden, including the head of a green giant poking through the treetops and his enormous feet on the ground.
The walls also have odd features, such as legs sticking out of one wall and an eye beautifully carved into the other. Throughout the garden, streams weave their way through, which may contain a goblin or two. Visitors can also enjoy great views of the wild Yorkshire Dales from various vantage points.
The woods present a unique labyrinth of tunnels, narrow passageways, chambers, and galleries, perfect for a maze adventure. Visitors will encounter tricky challenges and the occasional spray of water. Secret brass circles reveal hidden markings and direct visitors on their fun-finding mission.
The Forbidden Corner has extraordinary statues and buildings dotted around the site, such as pagan tree men, hay bale dogs, gargoyles, and a huge pyramid made of translucent glass! It’s a fantastic family day out suitable for all ages, even for teenagers who will enjoy the many Instagrammable opportunities.
Enjoy a steaming cup of tea and cake at the Corner Café, or indulge in a hearty meal at The Saddle Room. Additionally, there are plenty of picnic benches and tables available on the Tupgill Park Estate where you and your family can relish a lovely lunch.
