Overview

The Rare Breeds Centre is a working farm and tourist attraction that spans 100 acres. It is located amidst the beautiful Kentish countryside and houses several native and rare breeds of farm animals. The centre is approved by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust, and visitors can witness a range of animals, including cows, horses, sheep, pigs, and chickens.

Things to do

The Rare Breeds Centre is a thrilling place where you can meet a variety of animals, including creepy crawlies and birds of prey. This farm is spread across 100 acres of stunning grounds and offers numerous activities and attractions. You can start your visit by watching pig racing and selecting your favourite pig before the race begins. You can also learn about planting and producing your own food in the Life Garden.

The farm features other amenities like swings, hill forts, and an aerial runway. Stroll, observe the sheep and squirrels, and picnic in the charming woodland spot.

The farm has a fantastic play barn and children’s barn where you can see goats, rabbits, ducks, cows, and hens. For an additional cost, you can even experience handling and flying the fabulous birds of prey!

Food & Drink

The Granary Restaurant:

The child-friendly restaurant offers a variety of freshly prepared hot and cold meals, snacks, and baked goods served by friendly staff, including Life Skills students. With spacious indoor and outdoor seating areas, children can enjoy the fun surroundings, including a sandpit.

The Trailer:

The Trailer is open all year round for snacks and drinks. Sausage rolls are available on weekends and holidays. You can also indulge in ice creams, luxury hot chocolates, and mochas. The Trailer is situated opposite the Discovery Zone.

The Cabin:

The Cabin is closed until Easter 2024 and open from April to October. It is located in Sammy’s Play Park.

Picnic Areas:

There are various picnic areas throughout the site where you can relish snacks or drinks from our eateries, or you may bring your own picnic. You’ll find ample seating that allows you to watch your children while they play. In addition, the Benson Barn offers covered eating areas.
