Cantref Camp-Site, established in 2015, is an excellent destination for families and individuals wishing to discover the Brecon Beacons National Park. Whether seeking an adventure-packed break filled with mountain biking, canoeing, or hill walking or planning to attend local events such as the Jazz Festival, Hay-on-Wye Literary Festival, or Abergavenny Food Festival, Cantref is the perfect venue. You can also extend your stay and visit the on-site Children’s Farm Park or Pony Trekking Centre.
All the outdoor activities and pursuits are just a short car journey away from the centre. You can start mountain walks and bike rides right from the premises. For those interested in horse riding, the on-site Horse Riding Centre is the perfect place. The centre has been established for over 45 years and caters to complete beginners, novices, and experienced riders. They offer rides of different lengths to suit the whole family.
Families visiting the area will find the on-site children’s farm park an enjoyable experience. There are shows every half an hour during the day, such as Meet Blue the Dinosaur, Spirit the Unicorn, Meet the Animals, Tractor and Trailer Rides, and Pig Racing.
The park offers loads of outdoor play, such as a sledge ride, crazy golf, and a family swamp boat ride. Even if it’s wet outside, there are lots of indoor activities available, including a huge heated indoor play area. Families camping at Cantref get free entry into the farm park when it’s open.
The Farmhouse Café offers various lunchtime snacks, homemade specials, and delicious cakes. Customers can place their food orders through the website to save time and avoid queues, giving them more time to enjoy the farm with their children.
During school holidays and weekends when the Farm Park is open, the Farm Park Café serves Breakfast Rolls from 8 am to 10 am. While having breakfast, kids can enjoy early access to the indoor soft play area.
In the summer holidays, the café hosts Wood-Fired Pizza evenings every Wednesday and Saturday from 6 pm to 8 pm.
The campsite offers pitches for tents and small motorhomes with access to electricity. It is a dog-friendly facility that welcomes dogs into the on-site Children’s Adventure Farm Park. A shower block is available on site, and guests can hire fire pits.
In addition, there are two new Camping Pods with wood-fired hot tubs. Each pod contains a double bed and a double futon, accommodating up to two children.
For guests interested in glamping, there are also Yurts available. The Yurt has a Double Bed and 2 cushion sofa beds, which can sleep a family of up to 4 people. It has electric sockets, a kettle and a small camping fridge.
There are many beautiful scenic spots around the local area that you can explore. Some of the popular ones include Offa’s Dyke, Lake Vyrnwy, the Seven Wonders of Wales, Powis Castle, and Dovey Valley.
In case of rainy weather, you can opt for indoor activities such as visiting Llangorse Multi Activity Centre, Quackers Play Centre, or the Play Barn at Brynich.
The campsite is situated in a picturesque rural area that offers numerous local attractions to explore. The site includes a children’s farm park that provides endless entertainment for the whole family, and park entry is free during your stay.
