Overview

Explore more than 30 acres of lush meadows decorated with colourful flowers. It’s an ideal place for people of all ages to spend their holidays. The social areas are spacious and provide a perfect combination of activities and relaxation to cater to everyone’s preferences. You can swim in the fantastic indoor pool, equipped with a Badu Jet Swim system that allows you to swim against a current.

Activities

At Newhouse Farm Cottages, your family has plenty of activities to enjoy. You can start by exploring the 30-acre grounds, which include fields for ball games, a football net, and a basketball hoop. There is also an outdoor wooden play area with slides, climbing walls, swings, forts, and lookout platforms. Adjacent to the play area is a super trampoline with a safety net. Additionally, you can enjoy the 9-hole crazy golf course, golf pool, and noughts and crosses game.

Stroll along the farm trail, relax in flower-filled meadows and woodland, watch for badgers, barn owls, and red deer, or have a family picnic by the river and lake. Children can have fun building dens, cooking in the mud kitchen, playing on the swings, slides, trampoline, or inside the soft playroom. Older children can play table tennis, pool or crazy golf competitively. There is also reliable WiFi available.

You can picnic on the lawn and play football, cricket, or tennis on the village court. You can also fish in the well-stocked fishing lake to say hello to the ducks. There are picnic tables and benches around the property to relax and enjoy the scenery. Also, each communal courtyard has brick barbecues available for your use.

The heated indoor pool is open all year round and features counter-current jets that provide a challenge for serious swimmers and a lot of fun for children. Each cottage has a private pool for a minimum of 1.5 hours daily. You are welcome to take floats and inflatables to the pool. The traditional sauna, shower, changing area and toilet are next to the pool.

Finally, in-cottage pampering treatments are available for those who want to relax and unwind.

Food

Each cottage in the resort features a fully-equipped kitchen with everything you need to cook a delicious meal, including a fridge/freezer, electric oven and hob, microwave, and dishwasher. If you’re in the mood for a BBQ, you can enjoy your private outdoor or communal spaces. Plus, the barbecue lodge always saves the day if the weather doesn’t cooperate!

If you’re planning a big celebration, The Hayloft is the perfect venue! It can seat up to 47 guests, and you can prepare your food in the cottages or hire fantastic caterers.

If you’re feeling peckish, you can head to Witheridge village, which is just half a mile away, and grab a bite at the fantastic pub or pick up your groceries at the village store. Additionally, the local farm shop is only a 5-minute drive away. And if you don’t feel like leaving the resort, all the major supermarkets can deliver directly to your doorstep.

Accommodation

The collection of cottages provides various properties ideal for families seeking a peaceful and relaxing holiday.

For instance, Beech Cottage is a bright, sunny property with plenty of open-plan living space. The cottage boasts a shared courtyard and a wood-burning stove, ensuring a warm and cosy stay, no matter the time of year.

On the other hand, Larch Cottage is a charming property with exposed roof trusses and a wood-burning stove. It provides spacious living accommodations for families, including a fully equipped kitchen and an open-plan dining and sitting area.

Willow Cottage is a well-designed ‘upside-down’ property with a spacious and pleasant open-plan beamed kitchen, dining and sitting room, and a wood-burning stove. Guests can access an underground passageway through a door (with low headroom), which leads to Oak and Rowan cottages, the games room, and the guest laundry room.

Rowan Cottage offers beautiful views across the valley towards the village, providing ample space for up to six people.

Trotters Cottage is a beautifully appointed and secluded detached property with stunning panoramic views across the valley. It features a private, fenced courtyard garden and a wood-burning stove.

Linhay Cottage is wheelchair accessible and set in a 5-acre field with views across open meadows towards the Parish Church. It is perfect for up to six people and offers a large open-plan lounge/dining room with a wood-burning stove and Sky TV.

Finally, Elm Barn is the largest property, full of character and spacious, making it a perfect choice for friends and families wanting to stay together. Set apart from the other cottages and adjacent to the swimming pool, Elm Barn’s galleried entrance hall leads to a beamed kitchen and separate dining room. The French doors open onto a private courtyard garden with a brick barbecue and picnic tables.

Nearby

Bellbrook Trout Fishery is an excellent fly-fishing and trout fishery located 15 minutes from Newhouse.

Crealy Theme Park and Resort is near Exeter. It is Devon’s biggest family theme park, where you can experience the legendary magic and adventure of Crealy.

Dartmoor National Park is a beautiful moorland landscape covering 368 square miles. It has wooded valleys and windswept tors. The public can roam freely on unenclosed, open moorland on foot and horseback. It also has around 600 miles of public rights of way. Dartmoor is a rich habitat for wildlife and has a wealth of archaeological remains.

Devon Country Pursuits offers a range of activities such as clay shooting, laser tag, Segways, archery and many more. You can visit them in Exeter, or they will bring all equipment to Newhouse.

Exmoor National Park extends over 265 square miles of coastal land, hills, moors and woods. It provides excellent hiking opportunities across wild landscapes and among ancient inhabitants’ stone circles and ruins.

Go Ape! is near Exeter. It offers a thrilling experience where you can climb 30 feet up a rope ladder, Tarzan swings into a giant rope net, zip wire through trees, crawl through tunnels, and tackle high-wire rope bridges. If you’re wild enough, then you’re ready to Go Ape!

Go Segway is Devon’s first and favourite Segway® tour based at Haldon Forest Park, near Exeter.

Haldon Forest Park is near Exeter. Whether you explore the forest on foot, bike, or swinging through the canopy, you’ll find something for you just around the next tree! Refreshments, cycle hire and Go Ape Tree Top Adventure are available.

Horse-drawn canal boat trips are available in Tiverton. You can experience a journey into yesteryear aboard a traditional horse-drawn barge as it glides peacefully through the scenic Devon countryside, adorned by nature and wildlife.

Knightshayes is a Victorian country house with acres of glorious gardens and parkland in Tiverton. The National Trust owns it.

Quad World is in Cullompton. It is a fun sport for all families to join and is one of the fastest-growing in the UK.

Quince Honey Farm is in South Molton. It is a bee farm and family attraction with a shop, restaurant and soft play area. It’s fun for all the family.

Rock & Rapid Adventure is also in South Molton. It has Devon’s most prominent and best-equipped indoor climbing wall, suitable for all abilities. Taster sessions and lessons with all kits provided. Great fun, whatever the weather!

Rosemoor Gardens is in Great Torrington. Gardeners worldwide acclaim this Royal Horticultural Society garden, but you don’t have to be keen to appreciate its beauty and diversity. Whatever the season, the garden is a unique and enchanting place that people return to time and time again.

Shalden Shooting School is near Tiverton. It is a clay pigeon shooting school with professional instructors. No experience is necessary. It caters to all ages and abilities and provides all the equipment needed.

Exmoor National Park is an International Dark Sky Reserve and home to some of the darkest skies in the country. It’s a great place to gaze at the stars, especially when walking the self-guided Dark Sky Discovery Trail.

Surf South West Surf School is at Saunton Sands and Croyde Bay. These renowned surfing beaches are for absolute beginners and seasoned surfers.

The BIG Sheep is near Bideford. It is North Devon’s premier all-weather attraction.

Tiverton Museum is a social, agricultural, transport, and local history museum.

Tiverton Castle has something for everyone. You can learn about the Castle’s history, ghosts and secret passages. Try Civil War armour, climb the tower steps, and stroll around the beautiful gardens.
