Manchester’s Christmas Markets are back for 2024, bringing festive magic and joy to the city centre.
The UK’s largest Christmas Market returns with over 200 stalls across nine locations, offering a festive extravaganza. Visitors can enjoy the lively atmosphere, explore local and international crafts, and indulge in a variety of sweet and savoury treats, along with popular drinks like hot chocolate served in signature mugs.
Piccadilly Gardens will once again be the heart of the markets, while Market Street, Cathedral Gardens, Exchange Street, New Cathedral Street, St Ann’s Square, Exchange Square, The Corn Exchange, and King Street will all be transformed into a Christmas wonderland.
Piccadilly Gardens
The Winter Gardens at Piccadilly Gardens will be open daily, with craft stalls closing at 8pm and food and drink available until 9pm. Visitors can enjoy popular favourites such as pancakes, bratwursts, churros, and a variety of international beers. The Piccadilly Street Food Market will serve global flavours late into the evening. Live entertainment and music will be hosted under covered seating areas, ensuring the festive spirit isn’t dampened by any Manchester rain.
Market Street
Open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 8pm and Sundays from 10am to 6pm, Market Street offers a range of Christmas shopping options. With 45 stalls featuring bespoke crafts and gifts like tweed hats, spiced rum, Christmas decorations, candles, coconut macaroons, jewellery, and cheese truckles, there are plenty of unique finds.
Cathedral Gardens
The market at Cathedral Gardens will be open daily from 10am to 9pm. Families can enjoy the festive atmosphere, including Skate Manchester’s covered ice rink and live entertainment from Thursday to Sunday. Warm up with crepes, gourmet hotdogs, and hot chocolate.
St Ann’s Square and Exchange Street
The original Christmas Market site will be open daily from 10am to 9pm, with craft stalls closing at 8pm. The square offers an authentic German market experience with German beers, cherry glühwein, bratwurst, and salt and pepper chicken from Yard and Coop. Hot chocolate cones poured from chocolate taps will also be available.
New Cathedral Street
For high-end gifts and gourmet treats, New Cathedral Street is a must-visit. Open daily from 10am to 9pm, this area features handmade candles, ceramics, local spirits, and keepsakes, ideal for Christmas shopping. Food offerings include currywurst from The Witch House and burritos from Wrap Up.
Exchange Square
One of the largest market sites, Exchange Square will be open daily from 10am to 9pm. The Mill Exchange will serve Mancunian mulled wine, and visitors can sample local favourites such as Yorkshire pudding wraps, birria bowls, hot curries, mini pancakes, and fresh fudge. The market also features stalls selling clothing, soaps, boutique babywear, local crafts, and handmade gifts.
King Street
Open daily from 10am to 9pm, King Street is ideal for both foodies and shoppers. The Italian deli Ballaro will offer fresh cannelloni and arancini, while El Gato Negro brings Mediterranean flavours to its seating area. Shoppers can explore crafts, French soaps, personalized tree decorations, wooden furniture, and Salford Rum’s illustrated bottles.
The Corn Exchange
Set between the Corn Exchange and Shambles Square, this area features unique gifts, including handmade pies, Nepalese woollen jumpers, jewellery, Christmas decorations made from recycled wood, photo frames, artisan chocolates, and more, open daily from 10am to 9pm.
