Overview

Cambridge Ice Arena is a full-sized indoor ice rink on Newmarket Road, offering families the chance to get out on the ice whatever the weather. Public skating sessions are suitable for children aged 3 and up, so little ones can have a first go while older children and grown-ups skate too.

There’s more to the arena than public skating, with lessons, ice hockey and curling also on offer. Session availability can vary, so check the arena’s timetable before setting off to find a public skate that suits your plans.

Things to do

Make a day of it with a skate, or explore some of the other ice-based activities available at the arena.

• Join a public skating session on the full-sized rink.
• Introduce younger skaters to the ice, with sessions suitable from age 3.
• Hire a polar bear skate aid to help children find their balance.
• Find out about skating lessons if your family would like to build confidence or develop their skills.
• Watch or take part in ice hockey, with opportunities available at the arena.
• Try curling, another activity offered at the venue.
• Ask about birthday party packages for a celebration on the ice.
