Things to do

Once you have collected your tickets, boarding for the historical tram rides at Crich Tramway Village begins. Families and visitors with dogs on leads can enjoy a scenic ride through the beautiful Derbyshire countryside on trams that have been lovingly restored and are fully operational. These trams range from the early 1900s to the 1960s, and visitors can hop on and off different trams to immerse themselves in living history.

There are several tram stops along the picturesque mile-long track, including Terminus Town End, Stephenson Place, Victoria Park, Wakebridge, and Glory Mine. At each stop, there are various activities to explore, such as exhibitions, woodland walks, indoor soft-play, and outdoor play trails and parks. The Great Exhibition Hall is a must-visit to view interactive exhibits, including the Century of Tram’s exhibition, offering insights into the history of trams from horse-drawn to electric carriages. Visitors can also transport themselves back to a bygone era by visiting the Period Village.

In addition to the tram ride, Crich Tramway Village offers 60 acres of space for outdoor adventure and play. Children can discover and play while taking in the breathtaking views of Derwent Valley and the Derbyshire Countryside. There are several interesting landmarks to explore along the way, such as the Giant Wood Ant, the Green Man, and the restored Victorian horse cabmen’s shelter at the Wakebridge tram stop.

After exploring the village, visitors can follow the accessible winding footpath back or disembark at The Red Lion Pub and Tearooms tram stop, where they can enjoy an ice cream from the nearby shop. The captivating Workshop Viewing Gallery and Forge Gift Shop are also worth a visit.

Crich Tramway Village offers a fantastic educational experience, with entry tickets valid all year round.
