Things to do

Are you ready for an exciting day out with the whole family? The only crocodile zoo in the UK boasts over 150 crocodiles from 19 different species, including crocodiles, alligators, caimans, and other reptiles. While exploring the zoo, you will learn about the conservation efforts to preserve these amazing creatures. You might even get lucky enough to see baby crocs, alligators, and tortoises.

Make sure to snap a picture of the feeding schedule as you enter. The crocodile feeding sessions are something that both kids and adults will enjoy. When the Nile crocodiles jump for their food, it’s an experience that will leave you on the edge of your seat. The enclosures are well-designed, so you can easily see the crocodiles underwater. Keep an eye out for chameleons, which live among the trees.

But that’s not all – you can also see other fascinating reptiles, such as the Komodo dragon, lace monitor, Merten’s water monitor, and lizards and snakes. Many ponds in the zoo also house various turtle species, which coexist naturally with the crocodiles. Don’t forget to visit the giant Galapagos tortoises! During the summer, you can see them grazing in their paddock, and during the winter, you can find them staying cosy and warm in their house. Dirk, the largest tortoise, is a male who’s always a crowd-pleaser.

If you’re looking for something cuddly, head to the meerkat enclosure to learn more about these adorable creatures or try to catch a glimpse of the elusive clouded leopards. With so much to see and do, this crocodile zoo makes for a great day out. Just remember not to wear too many layers because it’s seriously tropical inside the greenhouses!

Food & Drink

The Croc Cafe provides hot and cold meals, snacks, drinks, and refreshments. On weekends and during school holidays, they operate two cafes onsite, so there is ample opportunity to get a meal or hot drink quickly.

You are also welcome to bring picnics to the zoo, and there is an outdoor picnic area with benches and tables next to the play area.
