Discover the hidden gem nestled on the borders of Dartmoor National Park – Dartmoor Zoo! With 33 acres of stunning woodland, you’ll be amazed by the diverse range of exotic and native animals, featuring the largest variety of big cats in the South West of England.
Dartmoor Zoo is home to an impressive collection of amazing animals, such as the majestic Amur tiger, African lion, playful monkeys, meerkats, and tapir. The zoo’s unique enclosures offer visitors a close-up view of these stunning creatures.
As seen in the Hollywood movie ‘We Bought a Zoo’, Dartmoor Zoo is a charity organisation that is dedicated to wildlife conservation, education, and research. The zoo is very careful to ensure that its development does not harm the beautiful woodland environment.
Dartmoor Zoo hosts a variety of daily events, including public talks during feeding times, animal encounters, and special activities for families during holiday periods.
Visitors can stop by the Meerkat Coffee Bar for a steaming hot cup of coffee and a delicious slice of cake. The coffee bar serves a light brunch menu from 10 am to 11:30 am, which includes oven-baked croissants, toast with jam, bacon rolls, and their signature breakfast bap.
From 11 am, the kitchen is open and serves hot meals. Their seasonal menus feature family favourites such as nachos, freshly toasted paninis, and a selection of 10.5″ pizzas for all to enjoy.
The Devon beef burgers, locally sourced from Dart Fresh, will satisfy the hungriest of carnivores, while herbivores can seek nourishment from the homemade vegan dahls.
