Things to do

Edinburgh Zoo is a great place to visit for anyone interested in seeing a variety of fascinating animals and minibeasts. You can check out Penguin Rock, one of Europe’s largest penguin enclosures, and watch the penguin parade where the little guys show off their impressive skills, diving off a diving board into the pool. The zoo also has playful meerkats and Scottish Wildcats that visitors can interact with.

The Monkey House is another attraction that visitors should not miss. Here, you can meet cheeky chimpanzees and inquisitive Brown Capuchin monkeys. The gibbon enclosure near the Mansion House is home to the Buff-cheeked Gibbons, which are unfortunately on the endangered species list.

You can also visit the Giraffe House, where you can become a giraffe keeper for Nubian giraffes. The zoo is also home to Asian small-clawed otters, Asiatic lions, Chilean flamingos, and Grevy’s Zebras.

If you’re feeling brave, you can visit Wee Beasties and explore the reptiles and amphibians. Here, you can find Jungle Nymph and Green Mantella in the mini-beast and amphibian exhibits.

The zoo offers keeper packages that provide a unique experience for visitors. With junior keeper experiences and half-day and full-day keeper experiences, there is something for everyone.

The zoo also has a prehistoric exhibit where you can witness the awe-inspiring dinosaurs. You can see velociraptors, triceratops, troodon, utahraptors, and many more iconic dinosaurs. Additionally, visitors can enjoy themed food, acoustic music, and outdoor games, and explore the dinosaur territories before dusk.

Lastly, Edinburgh Zoo’s keeper talks are perfect for people who are passionate about animal welfare and the environment.
