Overview

Exmoor Zoo is a one-of-a-kind wildlife park that distinguishes itself from other zoos in cities or parks. Situated in a scenic North Devon Valley, the zoo is renowned for its personal, friendly, and interactive approach. During the summer, the zoo offers talks and encounter sessions every half hour. A visit to this zoo will allow you to discover that there is much more to it than meets the eye!

Things to do

Exmouth Zoo has a lot to offer visitors. You can explore the zoo and see the Exmoor Beast, the only black leopard on exhibit in the UK. There’s always something happening every half hour, so make sure to check the daily timetable to see what events and activities are going on. Additionally, you can choose from a variety of personalized ‘experiences’ to get up close and personal with the animals.

Meet & Greet Experiences
If you’re looking for a unique animal experience, Exmouth Zoo offers “Meet & Greet” experiences with meerkats, lemurs, dingoes, cheetahs, reptiles/tortoises, and tapirs. During these experiences, you will be able to get up close to the animals and even help feed them while accompanied by a host keeper. The experience lasts around an hour and is a unique one-on-one interaction. Each participant will receive free entry to the zoo on the day of the experience and a commemorative certificate.

Mammal Experience
Get a behind-the-scenes VIP zoo encounter with at least 3 of these species: Brazilian Tapir, Grey Kangaroo, Alpaca, or Sitatunga. You’ll also get up close and personal with some lemurs and talk about all things zoo. Afterwards, you can explore the zoo to your heart’s content. You will also get to sponsor your favourite animal for a year and receive regular updates and photos. Meet the team and learn about conservation projects because our furry friends belong in the wild! Lastly, you’ll get a certificate of participation.

Carnivore Experience
Get ready for an exclusive VIP zoo adventure where you can get up close and personal with some of our ferocious carnivores! Hang out with the big cats, including pumas, cheetahs, and leopards, and discover other unique carnivorous creatures like maned wolves, dingoes, caracals, sand cats, bush dogs, binturongs, otters, and yellow-throated martens. Exmouth Zoo can even arrange a meet-and-greet with their cute and quirky meerkats if you’re feeling extra adventurous!

Walk On The Wild Side
Join Exmouth Zoo’s exclusive 2-3 hour tour with one of their Zoo Education Staff guides. Encounter a variety of animals, including dingoes, armadillos, lemurs, tapirs, meerkats, binturongs, and cheetahs. Book now as only one walk is available each day. The price includes entry to the zoo and an excellent photographic record on a memory stick to show off to all your friends.

Zoo Keeper for a Day
Exmouth Zoo offers a ‘Zoo Keeper for a day’ experience and a Junior equivalent. This is a unique and unforgettable experience that the whole family would enjoy. You get to feed the animals, clean their habitats, complete enrichment activities, and even manicure the tortoises!

Food & Drink

The African Café & Conservatory Tea Rooms are located at the entrance and exit of the zoo and can accommodate up to 130 people. The eating areas are wheelchair and pushchair accessible, and baby chairs are available. You can enjoy hot and cold food and drinks throughout the year. The café opens at 10:00 am for drinks and snacks, and from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm, you can order hot meals like toasties, jacket potatoes, burgers, and more. However, if you’re in a hurry, you can still grab some takeaway food and drinks. The open-air patio area is perfect for summer shade, and you can relax under grape vines and wisteria. It can seat up to 30 people on circular picnic benches.
