Overview

Howletts Wild Animal Park an original wildlife sanctuary in Kent. This exceptional park is not just a zoo, but a place where conservation and animal welfare are given the utmost importance. With a history of more than 40 years, Howletts Wild Animal Park is well-known for its dedication to protecting endangered animals and providing them with a secure environment to flourish.

Things to do

With over 400 amazing animals to discover, everyone will find their favourites. Meet the largest herd of African elephants in the UK, playful lemurs, majestic gorillas, and powerful tigers. Come discover new breeds and make some four-legged friends along the way.

Howletts is an animal conservation park that works with the Aspinall Foundation to protect some of the most vulnerable species. This includes a thriving breeding programme, which visitors can see in action with the park’s two black rhinos. The foundation’s funds, which are generously topped up by visitors, also help to run education programmes. The Aspinall Foundation does offer an animal adoption package on their website and in their gift shops. This is a great way for children to get involved and learn about animal conservation. Plus, it’s a lot easier than giving in to the demands of a pet gorilla!

As well as learning loads about them in daily talks and feeds, kids can also channel their inner cheeky monkeys in a dedicated play area.

Throughout the year, Howletts hosts a range of family events, such as the Family Time Fun during the February half term, Easter egg hunts, and Halloween Spooktaculars. These events offer an amazing day out for the family!
