Overview

London Zoo is a scientific zoo that holds the distinction of being the oldest one in the world. The zoo houses over 375 different species of animals, with a total of 15,000 individual animals in its care. Spread across a 36-acre park, the zoo offers a range of immersive exhibits and animal houses for visitors to explore. It’s a perfect family-friendly destination where you can experience and interact with a diverse collection of wild animals.

Things to do

Come and visit the Land of the Lions, where you can observe various fantastic animals, such as electric blue macaws, llamas, meerkats, and more! But wait, there’s more to see! Experience the largest penguin pool in England and watch the adorable Humboldt penguin colony swim, dive, and feed. Don’t forget to visit the penguin nursery to see the little ones learning to swim in a shallow pool.

At the Rainforest Life exhibit, you can watch playful otters and a variety of other animals. Explore the world of nocturnal creatures, and don’t miss out on the western lowland gorillas and Tiger Territory. You can catch these amazing animals up close in their large enclosures.

If you are looking for something a little different, head over to the Tiny Giants exhibit. Here, you can view schools of coral reef fish and even walk through Europe’s only spider enclosure! Finally, stop by the Animal Adventure zone, where kids can get up close and personal with porcupines, mongooses, and other curious creatures. They can also enjoy the energetic play zone and water play area.

Food & Drink

The zoo has several dining options available to satisfy all visitors’ needs. The Terrace Restaurant offers a wide range of choices, from a deli counter to stone-baked pizzas, fish & chips, and more. You can either dine in or take your food to go. The restaurant opens at 10 am for hot drinks and snacks and serves hot food from 11.30 am to 2.30 pm.

Zoo Treats is a perfect spot to grab pastries, hot drinks, and sandwiches on the go. It’s open from 10 am to 2.30 pm on Fridays to Sundays.

If you’re feeling hungry, the Peckish Parrot Café is the place to be. It’s in the Animal Adventure area and offers sandwiches, cakes, or a Little Keepers lunch box. You can enjoy your meal at the outdoor picnic benches provided. The café is open from 10 am to 2.20 pm every day.

For a quick snack or hot drink, visit the Woodland Kiosk, open only from 10 am to 2.30 pm on weekends. The Beach Hut, located next to Penguin Beach, is perfect for those needing an energy boost. You can grab a hot drink and relax..
