Explore a stunning 18th-century landscape garden in Bath that features one of only four Palladian bridges in the world.
Prior Park is a stunning 18th-century garden located in a picturesque valley that offers breathtaking views of Bath. The garden was created by local entrepreneur Ralph Allen with the assistance of ‘Capability’ Brown and poet Alexander Pope. When you visit Prior Park, you can cross one of the world’s only four Palladian bridges of this design.
As you stroll through the garden, you can admire the beautifully restored ‘Wilderness’ area, which includes the Serpentine Lake, Cascade, and Cabinet. You can then take a short five-minute walk to the Bath Skyline, a six-mile circular route that takes you through beautiful woodlands and meadows, an Iron Age hill fort, Roman settlements, 18th-century follies, and spectacular views.
Please be aware that the mansion is not wheelchair accessible, and the garden has some steep slopes, steps, and uneven paths. So please take care while exploring the garden. Dogs are allowed on a short lead all year, so feel free to bring your furry friends with you.
The Tea Shed is situated in the Cabinet. It’s open every weekend and school holidays (from Wednesday to Sunday) from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm. The Tea Shed serves an array of hot and cold beverages, snacks, and ice cream, and it is recommended that visitors make payments using their cards.
