Things to do

Sacrewell Farm provides a range of activities and entertainment for families. Visitors can explore the 18th-century working watermill, play in the indoor and outdoor areas, or make friends with rare breed farm animals. Many visitors have a special connection to the farm and return with their own families.

Sacrewell Farm has a rich history stretching back to the Domesday survey of 1086. Since 1964, the William Scott Abbott Trust has operated the 50-acre site as a charity, with the aim of providing agricultural education to everyone, from school children to heritage enthusiasts.

The farm has many play areas suitable for children of all ages. The natural play area and the adventure play area with a farmyard theme are particularly popular. The farm believes that imaginative play in the outdoors is essential for children’s well-being and encourages children to explore and have fun while learning about the natural environment.

The farm’s trail takes visitors to different play areas, including the bramble tunnel in the natural play area and the willow dome by the Mill Pond. Children and adults can have fun exploring and building dens using natural materials.

The water play area is another popular spot for children, where they can dip their fingers in the water, set leaves and twigs to float in the stream or hunt for bugs and butterflies amid the grass and wildflowers. The adventure play area is three times bigger than the previous one and features over 30 pieces of high-quality equipment, promoting outdoor skills, messy play, and physical exercise.

If the weather is not suitable for outdoor activities, the indoor soft play area known as the Playbarn is the perfect spot to have some fun.
