Things to do

Are you looking for a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of the outside world? The Blue Pool might be the perfect destination for you! This enchanting pool is famous for its ever-changing colours, and the sandy paths around it offer stunning views of the Purbeck Hills or down to the water’s edge. The surrounding 25-acre area of heath, woodland, and gorse is interlaced with sandy paths that will transport you to a fairytale world.

The Blue Pool has something to offer for everyone. Children can explore the Red Route, looking for Magic Fairy Doors or spotting the model squirrels in the trees. There are benches all around the pool where you can take a break and enjoy the ever-changing colours of the water while the children explore the play areas. You can find a woodland play area within a small clearing in the trees, where little ones can blast on the slide set into a hill, roundabout, and swings.

Wildlife enthusiasts can watch for grey squirrels, dragonflies, and skin deer. You might even spot a rare sand lizard near the pool if you’re lucky enough!

And that’s not all! During the winter months, The Blue Pool Illuminate event is a unique chance to experience the much-loved trails around the pool at night. The trees take on an eerie glow as the sun sets, and the canopy is alive with many colours when it gets dark. You can warm up by the roaring fire pits, where you can have a hot dog, drink, and toast marshmallows or cosy inside the tearoom. The event is family-friendly and dog-friendly, so everyone is welcome!
