The World Museum is a diverse museum based in Liverpool. Exhibitions and collections cover natural history, world cultures, and science. Established in 1851 as the Liverpool Museum, it became the World Museum Liverpool in 2005. The museum showcases artefacts and specimens from around the world, including ancient Egyptian artefacts, cultural items, natural history specimens, and interactive science exhibits. It engages visitors through educational programming, hands-on activities, and immersive displays.
The museum houses impressive collections of life sciences, earth sciences, and human cultures worldwide. It has five floors, each presenting interactive and engaging exhibitions for visitors to explore.
On the first floor of the museum, visitors can explore an aquarium and watch shows at the Treasure House Theatre. The Bug House and the Clore National History Centre are located on the second floor. The third floor is dedicated to world cultures, Ancient Egypt and the Weston Discovery Centre. The fourth floor is all about dinosaurs and the natural world and even has a picnic area. The last floor is focused on space and time and features The Planetarium.
A cafe within the museum offers a great selection of food and drink items. You are also welcome to bring a picnic and use the picnic areas.
