Activities

Coombe Mill provides endless activities that ensure guests of all ages have a memorable and fun-filled stay. From feeding the animals during daily farm rides to fishing in the lakes and river, the variety of activities is sure to keep everyone entertained. Kids ranging from tots to tweens can explore the indoor play barn and games room, which features ping pong, pool, and dressing up activities.

There is s 23 acres of open space for children to explore and play. Multiple play areas include a trampoline, swing, and zip line. Additionally, wild adventure zones like the mud kitchen, den building zone, fairy garden, and wildlife trail inspire imaginative play and limitless possibilities for outdoor exploration. In the summer, families can cool off and splash around in the River Camel, which runs through the grounds of Coombe Mill, offering various depths for swimmers of all ages.

The list of child-friendly animals at Coombe Mill makes the feed run a truly educational and fascinating experience. Ponies, fallow deer, alpacas, pigs, Jacobs sheep, pygmy goats, hens, chickens, guinea fowl, ducks, and Guinea Pigs are among the animals that guests can feed during the tractor ride, which runs year-round. During spring, guests can witness newborn babies, help bottle-feed orphans in the summer, and enjoy the piglets in September.

There are three outdoor play areas on site, including one designed for children under 5 with a secure fence all around and a gate for entry. The other two play areas are located in safe areas of the farm and are appropriate for children of all ages. In addition, there are various wild adventure play activities inspired by nature, such as the mud kitchen, den building zone, fairy garden, and wildlife trail.

The front lawn is set up with a badminton net, and guests can borrow rackets and shuttlecocks for some friendly competition. A cricket set and garden croquet set are also available to encourage outdoor family fun. Guests can spend the day enjoying the 7-hole crazy golf course, with putters and balls conveniently stored within the play enclosure.

For family entertainment regardless of the weather, Coombe Mill has two fantastic indoor play areas. The games room is ideal for older children and features a full-size table tennis table, a full-size pool table, table football, and an air hockey table, all free of charge. The indoor soft play barn is located in a separate building and is perfect for children aged 5 and under, featuring a fully padded soft play area with safety netting, a slide, and a little ball pit. Parents can comfortably supervise their little ones while relaxing at the handy table and chairs provided.

The morning tractor rides around the farm are a must and run every morning except Wednesdays and Saturdays. Guests can join Farmer Emma for a hands-on farm animal experience; meet the chickens, pigs, ducks, and Guinea Pigs to sheep, alpacas, goats, deer, and ponies. Collect fresh eggs for breakfast before returning home after your stay!

Fishing enthusiasts can take advantage of Coombe Mill’s fishing lake, while beginners can try their hand at fishing in the River Camel.

Food

Coombe Mill prides itself on being a fully operational organic farm that produces some of the freshest and tastiest produce around. Guests can enjoy scrumptious organic meals made from the farm’s fresh produce. For those who wish to take a break from cooking, the lodges come with pre-made meals that can be reheated at their convenience.

The self-catering accommodation comes equipped with all the essentials needed for a comfortable stay. There is a small on-site shop offering a limited selection of essential items. For a wider choice, guests can visit the village shop, collect eggs from the farm, go foraging for seasonal produce like blackberries, apples, mushrooms, and wild garlic, or even hire a chef to prepare meals in the comfort of their holiday property.

One of the highlights of a summer holiday is the chance to enjoy al fresco dining, and Coombe Mill provides ample opportunities for guests to do just that. Barbecuing is a popular pastime, and the holiday lodges come equipped with two large purpose-built BBQs and several smaller ones that can be taken around the grounds or into the garden. For those looking for a unique culinary experience, there is an indoor BBQ that seats 15 guests and can be used year-round. Additionally, guests can try their hand at making homemade pizzas in the outdoor pizza oven, which is sure to impress family and friends.

To make holiday food shopping even more convenient, guests can order online from major supermarkets and have their groceries delivered straight to their holiday property.

For those who prefer to dine out, there are several excellent local pubs just minutes from Coombe Mill and a babysitting service is available upon request for an adults-only evening.

The Scandinavian style lodges offer multiple bedrooms that can sleep up to eight people and are equipped with private outdoor spaces, providing an amazing view of the surrounding areas, and the chance to indulge in plenty of fun-filled activities. Some lodges come with playrooms filled with toys, tunnels, and soft play areas, ensuring that children are kept entertained while parents can relax by the wood-burning fireplace located in the open-plan kitchen and living areas. Each lodge has electricity, heating, fridge freezer, kettle, toaster, microwave, a full sized bath and shower, wifi, washing machine, TV and DVD, tumble dryer, and all cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils. Also provided is bed linen, towels, hairdryer, iron and ironing board. To cater to the safety of young children, bed guards for toddlers can be pre-ordered.

Pencarrow offers ample space in both the living areas and bedrooms, making it a perfect family self-catering lodge. The open plan living area with high ceilings gives a light and airy feel that is popular with families with children of all ages. With ramped access, parking directly behind the property, and downstairs bedrooms and bathrooms, Pencarrow is suitable for a partially disabled family member. For families looking for modern, contemporary accommodation, Heligan is the property of choice. Named after the famous Cornish gardens, Heligan is spacious and comfortable for a family of eight, boasting an open-plan kitchen-living room with high ceilings and plenty of windows for an airy and light feel. Heligan also boasts a playroom filled with toys, making it an excellent choice for families with young children. The lodge has three more bedrooms and a bathroom downstairs, as well as ramped access and parking, making it suitable for a partially disabled family member.Eden, is an eco-friendly lodge that is both spacious and modern inside and located centrally in the Coombe Mill estate, next to the children’s indoor soft play barn. The lodge has a vast upstairs master bedroom en-suite and a large quad bedroom downstairs, which is perfect for children to share. There is also a separate twin bedroom, providing plenty of room for a larger family or extended family. Trebah, is the latest addition to the family-friendly Eco-Luxury Log Cabins! This cozy cabin was designed with families of four in mind, and it’s the perfect retreat for a fun-filled getaway. For chilly nights, snuggle up by the feature wood burner, while the kids play upstairs in the playroom.

Trevarno mirrors the popular Trebah in design and layout to make it one of Coombe Mill’s most sought after properties. With a truly modern, light and airy feel throughout, the double veranda doors take you into an open plan living / kitchen area and this forms the hub of the house. Along the corridor is a 6ft master bedroom with en-suite and the twin bedroom is right next door for children. Upstairs is a giant playroom filled with toys which makes this lodge so popular with young families.

The cream of the crop for families is the Polzeath, sleeping four. This lodge has an  an extended upper floor containing a super elaborate play room. Children will be lost for hours in the soft play room, the reading snug and vast general playroom filled with toys.
