Coulscott House Holiday Cottages are in a serene valley in North Devon. These cottages offer exceptional accommodations with numerous family-friendly amenities, including an indoor heated swimming pool, outdoor hot tubs, a games room, an outdoor play area, animal feeding, and extensive safe, open space to roam and explore.

Activities

Coulscott offers a wide range of child-friendly facilities, including a fabulous indoor heated swimming pool that provides a perfect place for children of all ages to splash, swim and have fun, regardless of the weather outside.

In addition, there is a communal indoor games room with table football and table tennis and a soft play area designed for younger children under five. Coulscott House and the Georgian House also have a private games room with table tennis and darts.

Outside is plenty of safe space for children to play and explore. Coulscott is in its valley, with 16 acres of private grounds to wander around, including gardens, ponds, meadows, orchards, and streams.

There is also an outdoor play area with a large wooden pirate ship, a two-storey play house, a badminton court, a five-a-side football pitch, a trampoline, swings, slides, a climbing frame, croquet, and clock golf.

Coulscott is also home to various visitor-friendly animals, such as alpacas, pygmy goats, a pig, guinea pigs, and baby lambs, which guests are encouraged to visit and help feed. The on-site chickens also provide eggs for Coulscott.

Food

If you’re cooking at home in the evening, you can pick some fresh produce from Coulscott’s kitchen garden and greenhouse to add to your meal. Alternatively, you can visit Coulscott’s on-site shop, which offers a variety of cook-ready meals and other items.

A popular local walk leads to the Hunters Inn in Heddons Valley – a child and dog-friendly pub that serves delicious food and drinks in a beautiful setting.

Accommodation

Coulscott offers a range of seven properties to choose from, catering to various group sizes and requirements. Four small cottages can accommodate 2, 4 or 6 people, plus cots, and two more significant properties, the Georgian House and the Old Barn, which can sleep nine or ten, plus cots. For more significant get-togethers, the Coulscott House is a great option, combining two other properties to sleep up to 15, plus 4 cots, in eight bedrooms.

All the holiday cottages at Coulscott are restored from the original stone and slate buildings of Coulscott Farm. Many original features have been kept and restored, offering well-appointed accommodation.

Several of the cottages have a private hot tub. They all come with well-equipped kitchens, private gardens (many with beautiful countryside views), shared communal courtyards for outside dining, and comfortable open-plan living areas. The more significant properties, in particular, offer awe-inspiring, family-friendly accommodations. For example, the Old Barn boasts triple-height vaulted ceilings and a private outdoor deck offering uninterrupted views down the valley.

If you’re looking to save space in your car, Coulscott provides all the child and toddler equipment you might need during your stay free of charge (including cots, high chairs, booster seats, bed guards, baby baths, stair gates and more). Additionally, Wi-Fi is available in all the cottages, and EV charging is available.
