Fountain Violet Farm is situated in the serene countryside of Devon, just outside the village of Kingswear. Families are welcomed and hosted by the Jones family, who specialize in beef livestock. The farm offers canvas hideaways with wonderful views of the coastline. A perfect family escape from the daily hustle and bustle of life.

Activities

Wake up each morning from cozy beds to the stunning views of River Dart at the farm. Both adults and kids will enjoy taking a stroll through the beautiful landscape and breathing in the fresh sea air. After working up an appetite, families can experience a sunset campfire and cooking session before retiring back to the comfortable Feather Down beds.

Food

The canvas retreat comes with a fully equipped kitchen, so no need to bring any camping gear. Families will find a stove top to cook delicious meals and a sink with running water. There is also a spacious workspace where kids can help. There is a family dining table inside with extra seating available outside.

Families can even enjoy using the communal pizza oven to make an Italian feast. Food can be purchased locally from the honesty shop on-site. Additionally, meat boxes can be ordered from the local butcher to BBQ for an outdoor feast. After dinner, relax with the family and toast marshmallows whilst stargazing at the official Dark Sky Reserve.

The farm has a total of five luxurious canvas tents, kitted out with everything a family could need, including ensuite showers. All the tents sleep up to six guests in three separate spaces including a double room, a bunk bed for the kids, and a cabin bed located in the living space (just swing the doors shut to create a cozy den).

Fountain Violet is an off-grid campsite, meaning electricity and wifi isn’t available. But don’t let this put guests off. A wood-burning stove keeps the open-plan living space and sleeping quarters extremely comfortable. As does the welcome pack that comes as standard including bed linen, towels, candles, matches, washing up liquid and other basics.

Families looking for a variety of watersports to enjoy will find Fountain Violet Farm the perfect place. Just a 15-minute walk away from the peaceful Mill Bay Cove, enjoy swimming or simply relaxing under the sun. Why not even have a go at kayaking, paddleboarding, surfing, and sailing in the nearby River Dart?

Or why not take the Dartmouth Steam Railway and catch the passenger ferry across to Dartmouth? For a glimpse of history, visit the Greenway House and Garden. The summer home of the famous author Agatha Christie and her family in the 1950s.

There are also plenty of pubs and restaurants within walking distance from the farm, making it a perfect location for a day out without having to use your car.
