Overview

Lions House is a picturesque wood cabin located in the countryside, just two hours away from London. It offers a magical experience for couples and families who want to take a break from their busy lives and unwind. Guests can enjoy rowing a boat under the stars, challenging each other to a putt on the green, or dining al fresco amongst the trees. The serene surroundings provide the ideal opportunity to relax and rejuvenate away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Activities

At the site, there is a wide range of activities for visitors to enjoy. The boating lake has life jackets of all sizes available for borrowing. There is also a gazebo that provides the perfect spot for enjoying a drink or a meal while taking in the sunset. For those feeling adventurous, a treetop decking area equipped with tables and chairs is available for a picnic with the monkeys. Guests with a competitive spirit can take advantage of the badminton area and putting green. The site is located just outside of Newmarket and is less than two hours’ drive from London, making it a convenient and stress-free escape for those looking to get away.

Food

A fully equipped kitchen means you are able to cook up delicious meals onsite. If you don’t fancy cooking, then why not head out to one of the local pubs or restaurants?

Accommodation

On the site, there are three cabins, one of which is called the Lions House. This cabin is located by the waterside and features a spacious sitting room and a kitchenette. It can comfortably accommodate two people in a double bedroom, and an additional guest on a single bed in the sitting room is available upon request for a small extra fee. The kitchenette is fully equipped with a mini-fridge, microwave, kettle, and toaster. The separate sitting room has a sofa and a television with views overlooking the gardens and the lake. Outside, there is a decked area with garden furniture and a BBQ. Each cabin has its own private shower room, which is just a short walk away from the cabin, complete with a shower, WC, and basin.

If guests need extra accommodation, there is another cabin called Monkey’s House, which can be added to any booking for an additional £61 per night (subject to availability). This cabin can comfortably sleep one adult and one child or two children.

Nearby

There are several activities and places to visit near the town. Wandlebury Country Park is located on the Gog Magog Hills, just south of Cambridge, offering miles of wonderful walks through woodland and wildflower meadows. Cherry Hinton Water Play Area is another popular spot, consisting of two small paddling pools in the grounds of Cherry Hinton Hall.

For those who love animals, The Animal Experience is a great option. Visitors can enjoy a hands-on experience with snakes, reptiles, meerkats, minibeasts, and other unusual animals. Milton Country Park is perfect for a fun day out with its pathways, playgrounds, lakes, visitor center, and cafe.

Cheeky Monkeys Play Barn offers indoor and outdoor play areas, a cafe, and a kids’ birthday party venue. Wicken Fen National Nature Reserve, Britain’s oldest nature reserve, is a unique fragment of the wilderness that once covered East Anglia. Lastly, Wild Tracks offers exciting activities such as go-karting, motocross, and battlefield live, making it a perfect spot for an adventure-packed day.
