The Place

Old Basset Cottage was the original Wheal Basset farmhouse dating back to the 17th century. It has been  completely converted to a new cottage incorporating many of the original features and is of a very high standard. It is situated near the present farmhouse which is itself over 200 years old.  From the cottage there are spectacular valley views towards the sea. The sea and award winning sandy beaches are only a mile away, and being just 5 minutes from the A30 Old Basset Cottage is centrally located for exploring all areas of Cornwall.

The Accommodation

‘Old Basset’ holiday accommodation is the original 17th century farmhouse on Wheal Basset Farm. Now completely renovated to a very high standard it sleeps up to 4 people and has its own small garden with picnic bench and BBQ.

Your accommodation begins with an enclosed entrance porch (with some storage for coats & shoes) which leads to the large and comfortable open-plan lounge/dining room. The large farmhouse kitchen is fully fitted with fridge, dishwasher, washing machine, cooker and microwave, and also includes ample breakfast dining space and an original serving hatch to the main lounge/dining room. The accommodation boasts a modern luxury bathroom which includes separate shower unit, bath, basin, WC and heated towel rail/radiator. There are two bedrooms, a double room with a double bed, bedside tables with bedside lamps and a DAB radio, large double wardrobe, drawers and shelving space, plus the original feature fireplace and a twin room with two 3 ft single beds, bedside tables with bedside lamps and a small double wardrobe. The cottage has its own garden and visitors are welcome to walk around the farm at any time.
