Petruth Paddocks is the perfect destination for families seeking a fun and relaxing holiday. With its laid-back and friendly atmosphere, visitors are guaranteed to have a great time. The vast open spaces and fresh air provide the ideal backdrop for a cosy campfire, and the facilities are both lovely and clean, ensuring a comfortable stay.

Activities

Families with young ones will have a blast at Petruth Paddocks. The children are free to explore and run wild in the stunning surroundings, with the added bonus of adorable farm animals like friendly sheep that are happy to be fed. There’s even a free book library for those who want to escape for a while.

Petruth Paddocks is a haven where kids can be kids, and there are no pesky rules and regulations. You can let them run around, scream, climb trees, and make new friends. They believe in a live-and-let-live atmosphere, where campfires are encouraged, music and bad singing are welcome, and you can wander around without a care in the world. A definite must-try is to hire a firepit and grab marshmallows from the reception area for a cosy evening. You can also sign up at reception for a tour of the farm animals or take the footpath into Cheddar and see the famous Gorge. There is an activity area for kiddies in the centre of the family field, where your children can clamber on old cable reels, sleepers, tractor tyres and Mr Landy the abandoned Landrover, perfect for climbing and jumping around.

There is plenty of space to roam around, hide in the hedges, and even ride the quad bike with Jules; the site is all about being free without PC rules. They have individual toilet cubicles, shower cubicles, and washing-up bays available.

There are picnic benches near the play spaces for parents to keep a watchful eye on their toddlers. You can grab the essentials, such as drinks, snacks, toiletries, and other bits and bobs, at the licensed shop in Reception. They also have a bean-to-cup coffee machine for when you just need a good cup of coffee and don’t want to wait in line at the shack.

Food

The site is well equipped for cooking with a campfire; campfire meals are highly recommended. Visitors can bring their own cooking equipment or enjoy a weekend meal at the food shack. Fresh tea and proper coffee are on sale from May to September at the pop-up café. There are also pubs and takeaways in nearby Cheddar – you can even get pizza delivered to you on-site.

They have a great food shack serving locally sourced burgers, Paninis, loaded chips, baked potatoes in the evening and breakfast rolls in the morning (Vegetarian, gluten-free & dairy-free options available). All washed down with great coffee, tea, iced milkshakes and hot chocolate!

Just a 10-minute walk from reception (or a few minute’s drive), is Sainsbury’s for the bigger shop.

Accommodation

The converted American bus offers a wonderful glamping experience with the perfect mix of exceptional comfort and iconic style, lots of fun. It offers decent-sized cosy accommodation with room to sleep, eat and relax inside. Power points are provided for all your devices, and you’ll find a proper oven, grill, burners and a BBQ. You can scrub up in a proper shower with real hot water and the throne is simply majestic! In cooler months it’s warm as toast – the bus has underfloor heating and is fully insulated with three bags full of real baa-baa’s wool, and you can even light the eco-log-burning stove to ramp up the cosy stakes when you want the added warmth and ambience of a real fire. The bowtops sleep four people on two double mattresses. A comfy mattress, protector, fitted sheet, quilt, cover pillows, and cases are provided!
