Located in Baxby Manor, you will discover the charming Rufus’s Roost. This unique treehouse is situated in a secluded woodland, which can be accessed through the forest. Outside, you will find a spacious porch with a fantastic hot tub heated by a reliable Air Source Heat Pump. This location is ideal for admiring the starry night sky and enjoying the picturesque Yorkshire countryside.

Activities

Remember to pack your waterproofs and wellies for your stay at Baxby Manor. The site is home to abundant beautiful wildlife, so take a stroll and see what you can find.

Watch for otters in Ings Beck, and watch for buzzards and kingfishers soaring overhead. You might even glimpse rabbits, stoats, weasels, and squirrels running around in the trees.

If you’re interested in bats, head to the bat monitoring station and use the binoculars provided for a closer look. Don’t forget to record all the animals you spot in the Beasts, Birds, and Bugs Log.

Food

Rufus’s Roost is fully equipped to meet all your self-catering needs. You’ll find everything you need for a comfortable stay away from home. You can cook your meals on-site, and BBQs are also available. Don’t forget to bring your marshmallows and sticks to enjoy a tasty BBQ.

There’s also a log-fired pizza oven, so you can have fun making your pizzas and see who can be the most creative!

In case you forget to bring any essentials, there’s no need to worry. You will find a small shop on-site with everything from BBQ essentials to ice cream.

If you don’t feel like cooking, you can visit the Plum and Partridge, which is only 0.5 miles away. This family-friendly pub has something to suit everyone’s taste.

If you’re up for a longer walk, you’ll find plenty of other pubs on the way. Some of them might be a short drive away, so check before deciding whether to use your legs!

Accommodation

Rufus’s Roost is not an ordinary treehouse. It offers all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay. The treehouse has three bedrooms and can accommodate up to six people. It also has a posh bathroom, a modern kitchen with the latest gadgets, and a cosy fireplace for chilly nights.

One of the most exciting features of the treehouse is the secret hideout beneath the stairs. To get there, you have to slide down a wooden slide! The hideout is a comfortable den with bean bags, soft cushions, a TV, video games, and movies. It’s the perfect place to relax and unwind.

The treehouse also has a luxurious heated toilet and shower block that guests can use. There’s a baby changing facility, an accessible toilet, and a chemical toilet disposal. There’s an indoor heated pot-wash room with a communal fridge and freezer and a drying room for wet boots and outdoor clothing.

Finally, the guests staying at Rufus’s Roost can enjoy their private jacuzzi. It’s the perfect place to soak and relax after a long day of exploring.

There are plenty of fun activities to do in the area! You can explore the beautiful countryside by walking in the North Yorkshire Moors or around Easingwold. If you’re feeling adventurous, you shouldn’t miss out on the mountain bike trails nearby in Yorkshire.

You can easily reach the charming market towns of Thirsk (7.3 miles) and Easingwold (4.6 miles), as well as the historic city of York (17 miles) with just a quick drive.
