They offer a variety of luxurious detached lodges with an array of amenities such as sky decks, games rooms, gyms, and hot tubs. It is the perfect getaway for anyone looking to relax and unwind.

Activities

Dobwalls is a small village offering many picturesque sights for travellers in neighbouring towns. Visitors can appreciate Cornwall’s natural beauty in all its glory. The lands are filled with dramatic moors, sprawling meadows, and ancient rock formations.

Food

All accommodations have outdoor dining options and a modern kitchen, making them perfect for self-catering. You can use the central living space and breakfast bar to prepare a delicious meal for your family.

If you feel like taking a break from cooking in the evening, The Highwayman, a lovely pub serving classic dishes and a selection of ales and ciders, is just under a mile away. Some shops are nearby. Alternatively, you can visit their sister site, Stonerush Lakes, which has a bar/restaurant, The Old Mill, just a short drive away.

Accommodation

The Southern Halt lodges are divided into four distinct areas, each offering a unique and captivating experience. You can stay at Horizon View, which offers breathtaking views, or Faraway Fields, which boasts cascading waterfalls. Alternatively, Meadow Retreat offers a private entrance and a sense of seclusion, while Southern Place has lush planting and generous plot sizes that will enchant you.

You can book lodges with one, two, or three bedrooms, and there is even an option for pet-friendly accommodations so that you can bring your furry friend along. You can book a lodge with a hot tub for an extra special treat. These properties typically have a double and a twin bedroom (two twin beds if it’s a three-bedroom lodge), with an en-suite bathroom attached to the double bedroom with a shower, basin, and WC. There is also a separate bathroom with a bath, shower over, basin, and WC. The lodges have an open-plan living area with a kitchen, dining area, and sitting area where you can relax after exploring with your family or friends. Some lodges with twin bedrooms also offer the option to zip-link the beds together to form a king-size bed.

The lodges have private decks, perfect for al fresco dining and taking in the beautiful surroundings. It’s a truly tranquil and luxurious retreat that you won’t forget.

Nearby

With Bodmin Moor just on our doorstep, there are plenty of opportunities for rambling in the wilds, encountering wild ponies, climbing granite stacks, and stumbling across village pubs with roaring fires and a warm welcome. A visit to nearby Bodmin could include a gentle cycle along the Camel Trail, taking in the lesser-used section to Wenford Bridge or a trip to Padstow on the North coast. Alternatively, if you fancy a beach day, the South Coast is nearby and ready to amaze.

Golitha Falls is a beautiful place to take a woodland walk through ancient oak trees and along the banks of the River Fowey, which rushes over moss-coloured boulders and tumbles towards the sea. You can hop from boulder to boulder, paddle in the water, or find a quiet spot with a blanket and listen to the whisper of the trees. If you feel hungry, Inkie’s Smokehouse serves up mouth-watering, wood-smoked BBQ with homemade rubs and sauces.

Kingsands and Cawsands are quintessentially quaint Cornish villages that are well worth visiting. These twin jewels on the Southeast coast offer shingled beaches that are an excellent spot for a swim, and the gentle seas are also ideal for kayaks or paddleboards, which can be hired in season. You can spend the day exploring the villages, relaxing on the beach, or walking around the Rame Peninsula for stunning coastal views. You can also catch a ferry to Plymouth to explore the historic maritime city and add another county to your holiday!

If you like history, you must visit King Doniert’s Stone, a historical landmark located near St. Cleer in Bodmin Moor. The landmark consists of two pieces of a cross dating back to the ninth century. There’s also an inscription dedicated to Dungarth, King of Cornwall, who unfortunately drowned in 875. The stone has stood since then and has outlasted the monarch it was initially built for.

Dozmary Pool is a lake in Bodmin Moor that’s worth a visit. The area is incredibly peaceful, with bursts of mist even during summertime. Surrounded by grassland and quiet waters, it’s a place for contemplation and relaxation. You can enjoy the views or get wrapped up in the folklore surrounding the mystical Dozmary. It can also get pretty chilly at night, and some might even dare to say it’s a bit spooky!

Summary

A stay at Southern Halt promises a joyful break from everyday life. Surrounded by vast open spaces and expansive skies, this is the perfect place to slow down and find happiness in the little moments.
